There are plenty of day cruises and tours to these idyllic places including
visits to the beautiful pure white sands and crystal clear waters of Whitehaven Beach.

Airlie Beach
Airlie Beach
Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsundays - a colourful, cosmopolitan
and inviting holiday town lying on the shores of a palm fringed beach and overlooking the calm waters
of Pioneer Bay dotted with yachts. Airlie is part of a picturesque peninsula that reaches out to
the Whitsunday Passage and provides the ideal mainland base for holiday fun and adventure in the
Whitsundays.
Vibrant Airlie Beach lies in the heart of the Whitsundays and is a great
base from which to explore the region. Sit in the shade of a palm tree or dine at vibrant al fresco
restaurants. There's a cosmopolitan nightlife with many clubs offering a range of entertainment
when the sun goes down.
Airlie Beach Lagoon in the centre of town is a welcome oasis. The large
man-made lagoon is perfect to cool off and relax with a swim. Stroll to Abel Point Marina, the boarding
point for numerous cruises. Shute Harbour 11km to the south is a major ferry terminal and jumping
off point to the reef and islands.
For a change of pace, head west to Proserpine, heart of local sugar and
cattle industries. Visit a museum or take an eco tour of the river. Bowen to the north is the first
European settlement in North Queensland.
Laguna Quays resort has won acclaim for its Turtle Point golf course.
The Whitsunday Coast takes in the historic town of Prosperine to the west,
fabulous golf resort Laguna Quays to the south and the friendly town of Bowen in the north.

Whitsunday Sailing Adventures
The Whitsundays region is one of the world's best sailing destinations
for novices and "old salts" alike. With many comfortable anchorages and land never out of sight,
navigation is easy. Many of the Whitsunday's islands also shelter fringing reefs, so you can explore
a different reef every day in this aquatic playground.
Luxurious cruises, crewed one-day or longer-term sailing adventures, skipper
yourself (bareboating) adventures are just some of the ways to explore the Whitsundays. Travel in
a racing yacht, a luxury catamaran or graceful tall ship.
You won't need a boat licence for bareboat cruising and you'll receive
the necessary introductory training. You can provision the boat yourself or have it done so you're
ready to set sail. For a change of pace, try oceanrafting or kayaking. Other specialist tours include
whale watching, fishing and a huge range of day tours.
