CAIRNS
QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA
Cairns is the
heart of Tropical North Queensland and is the primary gateway to Tropical
Northern Australia, Port Douglas, the Daintree Tropical Rainforest,
and the myriad islands.
Cairns is framed
by the spectacular twin backdrops of tropical rainforest mountain
ranges and the sparkling Coral Sea and is a modern, sophisticated
city, and is an ideal base to explore the wider Tropical North Queensland
region with front door access to World Heritage listed Great Barrier
Reef, Rainforest and Australian Outback.
The Cairns International
Airport is located only minutes north of the city centre.
The Great Barrier
Reef stretches through Queensland's waters for more than 2,500 kilometres,
covering around 345,000 square kilometres. The Barrier Reef is world's
largest World Heritage site, it is made up of more than 2,900 individual
reefs and 70 coral cays sprinkled along the edge of the continental
shelf.
From Cairns,
you can enjoy a Great Barrier Reef cruise out along the North Queensland
coast - north from the Bundaberg, Coral Coast & Country region. Head
out for a guided snorkel, semi-submersible submarine ride or take
a reef walk on a coral cay. Serious divers can book five-day or week-long
diving trips out of Cairns which include meals, diving equipment and
tanks and the expertise of guides who know the best sites. Choose
to see the Great Barrier Reef via high-speed catamaran, sail-based
dive trips, live aboard boats and luxury cruising vessels. You can

including Tropical North Queensland, Townsville, Whitsunday's, Mackay,
