With an enormous variety of activities to choose from, it's hard deciding what to do next. You could start the day with a rainforest walk and take in the spectacular views from the summit of Mt Kootaloo. After breakfast, explore one of the National Park walking trails through the rainforest and later perhaps a snorkel at Muggy Muggy Beach. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch and then spend the afternoon soaking up the sun, playing tennis or enjoying a wide variety of water sports.

And that's just one day on Dunk Island. You've still got to fit in a trip to the Great Barrier Reef, a visit to the Artists' Colony, horse riding on the beach, and some fishing! But in between this frenzy of fun you'll still find time to relax and unwind.

Dunk has a variety of restaurants and eateries designed to match your mood. The Beachcomber Restaurant more than caters for all those a la carte cravings. Then there's EJ's on the Deck, an island favourite with a savvy sidewalk cafe style. And BB's on the Beach is great for a relaxing bite to eat. With a postcard view across the palm-fringed beach to distant islands, the Plantation Bar and Lounge is perfect for a quiet drink together.

Dunk Island - Resort Leisure Facilities - Spa of Peace & Plenty, Dunk Island

Set amongst lush tropical gardens, the Spa of Peace & Plenty has been designed with pampering and total indulgence in mind - a sanctuary where guests exchange stressed states for tranquillity and embrace treatments that renew energies or evoke delicious relaxation. Dunk Island Spa have chosen to use two premium spa ranges: Sodashi, an all-Australian botanical range and Elemis, providing holistic spa therapies enhanced with exotic aromatherapy products. Advanced bookings are recommended prior to check-in. The Spa environment lends itself only to those 16 years of age and over.

Dunk Island 18 Hole Golf Course

Golfers are able to swing their way around a challenging and scenic 18-hole resort course - the only 18 hole island golf course in Australia. The course uses the Island's natural water features and the surrounding rainforest to great effect. Whilst the lush, international-standard greens have been cultivated using grass imported from Laguna Quays, the fairways and tees use local grasses native to the Island, the specially selected varieties allowing for excellent cover and negating the need for herbicides or pesticides.

Dunk Island - Kids Club

Kids Club caters for children aged 3 to 12 years all year round. Under the watchful eye of Dunk's professional staff, the kids enjoy a range of activities during morning and evening sessions. They can join a treasure hunt, nature arts and crafts, take a rainforest discovery walk, try turtle spotting, visit Dunk's own farm and the list goes on. In the evening, there's disco parties, stargazing, night walks, movies, night games and more. Kids Club even caters for the kids at dinner time. In fact, the kids will be having so much fun, parents can simply disappear! Now that's cool.

Bayview Suites

Situated beachside the rooms offer virtually uninterrupted views over Brammo Bay with direct access to the beach. Set in small groups of four units (two units upstairs, two downstairs), Bayview Suites are bright and spacious with a king bed and a luxurious bathroom with a twin vanity. The interior is split-level with the upper level featuring the sleeping area and a comfortable living area on the lower level. Rooms have a relaxed coastal feel with double glass doors leading onto a large balcony. Additional in-room amenities include CD Player, bathrobes and fully stocked mini bar. Interconnecting rooms are available.

Beachfront Rooms

Situated beachside with easy access to the beach through a tropical garden, guests can enjoy filtered views over Brammo Bay from most rooms. Upstairs rooms have balconies and down stairs rooms have a patio and lead onto the gardens and the beach. Rooms are comfortable with modern decor and contemporary cane and timber furniture on a split-level layout. Rooms have a separated living and sleeping area and ensuite facilities with combined bath and shower. All rooms feature one king and one single bed, or family configurations are available with one king and two single beds. Additional in-room amenities include bathrobes and fully stocked mini bar. Interconnecting rooms are available.

Garden Cabanas

Set amongst tropical gardens and arranged in groups of four, Garden Cabanas are a short stroll away from the central complex, resort facilities and beach. Rooms are comfortable and feature contemporary cane and timber furniture and a small outdoor area. Rooms contain a separate ensuite with shower. All rooms feature one queen and one single bed, or family configurations are available with one queen and two single beds. Room contains a fully stocked mini-bar.

Banfield Rooms

Located in tropical gardens, these block of rooms are a short stroll away from the central complex, resort facilities and beach. Rooms are comfortable and spacious and contain a separate ensuite with shower. The upstairs rooms feature one queen bed and one single bed in the sleeping area and a separate ensuite with shower. Interconnecting rooms are available. The down stairs rooms feature a family configuration with one queen and two single beds (in a separate room) and separate ensuite with shower. Room contains a fully stocked mini-bar.

Getting to Dunk Island

• Air Transfers Regular flights are available from all major Australian capital cities to Dunk Island (DKI) via Cairns (CNS) with Qantas (QF) and Virgin Blue.
• Macair operates the connecting flight between Cairns and Dunk Island. The flight takes 45 minutes. Charter flights are also available through Skytrans
• Baggage Allowance: Passengers may be restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. A limit of 16kg applies (subject to loading restrictions)
• Coach & Boat Transfer Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections operate services between Northern Beaches, Cairns Airport and Cairns City twice daily to connect with the Quickcat to Dunk Island. Port Douglas transfers available on request. Transfer time is approximately 3 hours.

• Boat Transfer The Quickcat (+61 7 4068 7289 or 1800 654 242) departs Clump Point (2 hours south of Cairns) to Dunk Island and return twice daily. The transfer takes 20 minutes each way.
