Voyages Heron Island is a true coral cay, located right on the Great Barrier Reef. The island is ribboned by sugar white sands, crystal clear waters and acres of brilliant coral with beautifully coloured marine life. At this World Heritage-Listed Marine National Park, all flora and fauna is protected, so the island is a nature lover's paradise, where the emphasis is on enjoying natural beauty. Stress is replaced by a sense of adventure, and your days are filled with discovery. Heron offers many activities such as guided island and reef walks, semi-submersible cruises and private beach picnics. An amazing array of animal and bird life can be discovered throughout the year, such as the delightful Green and Loggerhead Turtles. Heron is also world famous for its fantastic scuba diving and snorkelling. Experience some of Australia’s best dive spots - more than 30 dive sites are available, half of which are only 15 minutes from the beach.

If it’s school holidays, you can sign the kids up for the Heron Junior Rangers (7-12yrs), where they’ll get up close and personal with a wonderful variety of marine creatures, and explore the fascinating coral cay forest and woodlands.

At Voyages Heron Island, you won't see any buildings above the treeline, as the resort has been thoughtfully designed to blend with the surrounding environment. All meals including full buffet breakfast, smorgasboard lunch and 3-course table d'hote dinner are included in the daily tariff, as well as many island activities and nightly entertainment.

3 superb meals are included each day. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style while dinner features a 3 course table d'hote or themed buffet. Open for breakfast from 7.30am - 9.30am, lunch is served from 12.30pm - 2.00pm & dinner is served 6.30pm - 9.00pm. Special diets catered for by prior arrangement. Non Smoking. A picnic hamper service is available on request.

The Bar & Lounge features panoramic reef views, with a cocktail bar, entertainment lounge, dance floor and a mezzanine level library area. The Bar & Lounge opens to an outdoor terrace. Open from 9.30am to midnight.

The Beach House

The Beach House offers a superior style of accommodation with a high degree of privacy. Set within a grove of trees, a private boardwalk provides access to the beach. Air conditioned, the Beach House offers a separate bedroom with spacious ensuite including a bath and shower and an expansive living area including oversized sofa and a work desk with direct dial STD/IDD telephone. Other in-room features include a fully stocked mini bar (replenished daily) and CD player. Guests receive a deluxe fruit basket on arrival and a sunset canape platter and Ice is delivered each afternoon. The Beach House also offers its own private outdoor shower.

Point Suites

Set in a premium beachfront position with an outlook that offers uninterrupted reef views and magical sunsets, Point Suites are Heron's superior grade of accommodation. With an interior designed for relaxation, Point Suites are air-conditioned and enjoy a range of additional services and in-room comforts including a fully stocked mini bar (replenished daily), a CD player and phones. Guests receive a deluxe fruit basket on arrival and a sunset canape platter and an ice bucket - perfect for pre-dinner drinks - is delivered each afternoon. Point Suites are spacious in design and include a large ensuite and separate dressing room. A generous living area extends through glass doors to an extensive outdoor terrace where sun lounges, for the exclusive use of Point Suite guests can be found.

Wistari Suites

Wistari Suites are an excellent alternative for guests seeking maximum privacy. Located on the point and situated within a garden setting with ocean views. Interiors are spacious with contemporary design elements including a 3 seater couch and armchair and King Size bed in an area separate to living. A private outdoor terrace features stylish wooden furniture and a two person hammock. Wistari Suites are air-conditioned and have a fully stocked mini-bar with CD Player and telephone in each room. Similarly to the Point Suites and Beach House, Wistari Suite guests receive a deluxe fruit basket on arrival and a sunset canape platter and fresh ice each afternoon.

Heron Beachside

Suites Offering absolute beach frontage with direct access to the water and views of the reef, Heron Beachside Suites are generous in size with villa-style inclusions. Double glass sliding doors fill the room with natural light and connect both the spacious bedroom and separate living space to a large outdoor balcony. The living area features a divan as well as comfortable armchairs and coffee table. A large bathroom and an in-room CD are among some of the other features of a Heron Suite.

Reef Suites

Positioned closer to the beach, Reef Suites offer filtered reef and water views through a canopy of beachside trees. The living area extends outdoors to a balcony or garden setting, interiors are light-filled, modern and comfortable.

Turtle Rooms

Located in a garden setting a short walk away from the beach, these cottages have a relaxed casual style. Built in duplex fashion with two rooms per block, all Turtle Rooms are at ground level and feature a large deck and outdoor area. Interiors are bright and fresh, compact but comfortable. Standard and Family Rooms are available.

• Getting There

  Air Connections

• Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities to Gladstone (GLT) with Qantas (QF). Gladstone is a 1 hour and 20 minute flight from Brisbane (or a 6 hour drive from Brisbane).

  Rail

• Queensland Rail offers a Tilt Train service which operates six times a week between Brisbane and Gladstone. Guests arriving from Cairns can travel on The Tilt Train and The Sunlander from Cairns to Gladstone. Guests may be required to overnight in Gladstone before being transferred to Heron Island

  Boat Transfer

• Arrival: The boat transfer service departs Gladstone Marina at 11.00am daily, final check-in time is 10.30am if not arriving off a flight at the airport. The courtesy transfer to the Marina leaves the airport daily at 10.15am, after the arrival of the early morning flights into Gladstone. The coach arrives at the Marina 10-15 minutes later. The boat transfer arrives at Heron island at approximately 2.00pm Heron Island time. Buffet lunch is served upon arrival at Heron Island.
• Departure: The boat transfer departs Heron Island at approximately 2.00pm Island time or 1.00pm EST. Arrival time into Gladstone is approximately 3.45pm EST and a courtesy transfer is available for immediate transfer to the airport. Flights arriving into Gladstone to meet the boat transfer must arrive no later than 10.00am. Flights departing Gladstone must depart no earlier than 4.20pm. To fully confirm boat transfers, arrival and departure details for Gladstone must be advised.
